Fall 2023 Non-Profits Supported by Lisa Maco Photography

One of the perks of owning my own business is that I can support incredible non-profit organizations with my photography. By offering a non-profit a silent auction item, I’m able to not only support their efforts financially, but it gives me an opportunity to learn more about their organization.

At first, I worried it would come across as self-serving to promote that I do this; however, I’ve come to realize that I could help the non-profits even more by spreading awareness about them.

I decided to create this roundup of the four non-profits that Lisa Maco Photography is supporting this fall. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about each one. I share a little bit about the organization and its mission, information about the fundraising event, and a link to its website so you can learn even more.

Project Hope

Project Hope is an international organization that sends critical humanitarian assistance, such as food and medical care to areas experiencing disaster. They show up and serve those who need it the most. “We empower health care workers facing the world’s greatest health crises to build resilient communities and a healthier, more equitable world.”

The Beacons of HOPE gala is an annual event. The 2023 gala, a celebratory event marking Project HOPE’s 65th anniversary, happens on October 10, 2023 and expects to raise $800,000, helping Project HOPE continue to provide equitable health care and education to people in need around the world.

Safe House Project

Unfortunately, human trafficking is a major international issue. The Safe House Project combats human trafficking by educating the greater public about this issue and supporting trafficking survivors.

“Safe House Project’s mission is to increase survivor identification beyond one person through education, provide emergency services and placement to survivors, and ensure every survivor has access to safe housing and holistic care by accelerating safe house capacity and development across America. Our Vision is to unite communities to end domestic sex trafficking and restore hope, freedom, and a future to every survivor.”

The annual Safe House Project “Light Up The Night” Gala takes place on October 7 and expects to raise $400,000, because there is always more work to do to assist victims of human trafficking.

Ruyts Foundation of Veteran Suicide Prevention

Our brave servicemen and women need our support long after they’ve served our country. Ruyts Foundation was created to support veterans’ mental health care and the unique needs they face. Their mission is “To help our heroes fight the battles they can no longer fight alone. We offer support groups, mental health grants, and assistance.“

The 12th Annual Spy & Heroes Black Tie soiree happens on October 7 and is expected to raise $100,000 to create additional suicide assistance chapters, increase mental health professionals to provide urgent counsel, increase case officers, and expand a network of social and mental health services for Veterans in crisis.

The House of Ruth

Since 1976, House of Ruth has helped women, children, and families in the Washington DC area with a safe place to live and professionals to support them in processing, healing, and overcoming incredibly difficult circumstances.

On September 28, House of Ruth will hold its annual Donor Appreciation Reception to thank donors for their support of the mission. For the first time, there is a Silent Auction component to the reception, which should be a unique and fun way for donors to give at the reception if they choose. And lucky me! I get to attend as well and learn more about this wonderful organization.

Lisa Maco Photography

Each of these non-profits received a full-service photography experience with Lisa Maco Photography that includes a framed print as a donation. I’m grateful I can use my gifts of photography to support the mission of each of these fine organizations. If you have a favorite a non-profit in the Washington DC area that you think I should support, please feel free to let me know. Do you have any questions for me? Send me a message here.
