Frequently asked questions

Where are you located?

I welcome you into my home studio in Foxhall Village, near the French Embassy. I have a beautiful Golden Retriever and a very sweet cat who will not be joining our session.

Where will we shoot?

Studio sessions are done in my home studio. For Natural sessions, I have several go-to spots in the Foxhall area that do not require permits. If you are interested in a Natural session, we will discuss locations in our initial phone call.

What days and times do you shoot?

I shoot Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, by appointment. Studio sessions are scheduled at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. Natural sessions are scheduled in the early morning or late afternoon as dictated by the sun and the season. We schedule an alternate date in case of rain.

How long does a session last?

Children and family sessions last from 30-60 minutes. Newborn sessions last from 90 minutes up to 3 hours, depending on the need to soothe, feed, and comfort baby.

Do you help us plan for our session?

Absolutely! We have a full Design Consultation to discuss who we are photographing, the style that best fits your family and your home, and where your images will live - on your walls or in a custom-designed album or portrait box. Of course we also talk about what to wear.

What happens in my selection appointment?

I will play you a slideshow of your images set to music. The slideshow also includes the wall art we discussed during your consultation on your own walls. We'll go through your images and select your favorites. Go with your emotions - choose the images you react most strongly to. We can look at different sizes and frame treatments until you are happy. At that point, we finalize your order. Full payment must be received before I place your order.

What if I love all my images?

That's my goal, of course. But you need to leave room on your walls for future portraits as your children grow and change. If you really can't walk away, consider a portrait box, which holds 20 matted images and doubles as a rotating portrait frame. Just change the portrait in the window whenever you are in the mood for something different.

Do you provide digital files?

I provide a social media file for every image you purchase as a printed product. These files are also suitable for digital frames.

What's the COVID info?

Everyone in my house has been been fully vaccinated and boosted and I request that you have been as well. I have a COVID release I will ask you to sign to protect your interests as well as my own. Before starting in-hospital newborn photography, I had to prove immunity to measles, mumps, chickenpox, and rubella, pass a criminal background check and a drug test, and have an annual TB test, flu shot, and a periodic Tdap vaccine. On the off chance I get a cold, I will reschedule your session and I appreciate you doing the same.

How long does it take to get my finished product order?

Orders typically take 4-6 weeks to deliver as all images are hand retouched before they are printed, wall art is custom framed, and albums and portrait boxes are handcrafted in Italy.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit and debit cards. Cash works too.
